![]() ![]() I continue to get errors mentioning the Generic IEEE 1284.4 printing support.has anyone seen this before and have a fix? From what it looks like, my Windows 7 build may not have the proper driver to support this IEEE device. I have contacted HP and they have sent me other printer drivers, but none will load. I have tried uninstalling all IEEE devices in the device manager and rebooting, but they came back as before. Ethernet 000d USB Chief Analyzer 0100 Generic Universal Protocol Analyzer. Solution: Removed all printers (unknown or IEE), uninstalled HP software, rebooted with USB cable unplugged, reinstalled HP software, following instructions, plugged USB in when requested. 3017 Printing Support 304a Slim Keyboard 3102 PhotoSmart P1100 Printer w/. Figured it out.Client attempted to plug USB cable into PC prior to software fully installing. I do notice in device manager, under OTHER DEVICES a "Generic IEEE 1284.4 printing support" with a question mark by it. Re: Generic IEEE 1284.4 Printing Support. At first I noticed BROTHER SCANNER softer was already installed, so I removed that and the install went further without erroring, but still could not load the drivers. I have been though the HP instructions, tried the AUTORUN, manual install, but it is like the PC does not see the printer at all. I cannot seem to get these printer to recognize brand new HP LASERJET P3015 USB printers. ![]() They have DELL PC's that will initially ordered with VISTA, but we upgraded manually to WINDOWS 7. I have a branch office that wants to use several local USB printers instead of network printers. ![]()
